Steppe Eagle-2009 exercises set to active phase

ALMATY.  September 22. KAZINFORM Steppe Eagle 2009 International peacekeeping exercises set to its active phase. As is known the exercises are held on the polygon of the airmobile troops of the Kazakhstan Armed Forces in Ili municipality, Almaty oblast.

Commander-in-Chief of the ground forces Lieutenant General Saken Zhasuzakov and Commander of the airmobile forces Major General Adilbek Aldabergenov will evaluate the exercises, the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Defense informs.

Military servants of the Kazakhstan Army, Armed Forces of Great Britain and the USA are participating in the maneuvers. The soldiers will fulfill peacekeeping mission in a conflict area.

Over 1, 300 people, more than 100 unites of specialized military equipment and military-transport aviation are involved in the exercises.

The purpose of the exercises is to test peacekeeping capability of Kazbrig units and armed forces of the alliance as well as to improve interaction among the units and organizations in peacekeeping operations.
