Special status of Turkistan: What new projects the city is set to implement
Senators are discussing today the law “On special status of Turkistan city”. Vice Minister of National Economy Arman Kassenov revealed what new facilities will be built in the city in 2025, Kazinform News Agency reports.

He said that target transfers form the national budget amounted to 13 billion tenge in 2018, and in 2024 reached 72 billion tenge, having increased 5.5fold.
“The city’s gross regional product rose 6fold, and production output increased by 10 times. The own revenues of the city increased 14 times,” said Kassenov.
In his words, the city plans to implement the following projects in 2025 :
- Construction and reconstruction of Parassat and Astana parks. 10 billion tenge have been envisaged for this purpose.
- Construction of engineering infrastructure in the Turkistan Special Economic Zone, with 7 billion tenge to be allocated for this goal.
- Construction of a sports complex of the Children's and Youth Sports School to the amount of 4 billion tenge;
- Multifunctional Complex with a horse racetrack worth 13 billion tenge.
Earlier, it was reported that the number of foreign tourists visiting Turkistan surged by 45% in 2024, with the majority of them arriving from Uzbekistan.
