Special presidential election ends in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The voting in the snap presidential election in Kazakhstan ended, this has been announced by the CEC secretary Bakhyt Meldeshov.

"The process of counting the votes has begun. All observers and experts noted high voter turnout in different regions of Kazakhstan. The vote count is conducted by members of the precinct election commissions," said B. Meldeshov. He also noted that, in accordance with paragraph 2 of Article 43 of the Constitutional Law "On elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan" vote count is conducted separately for each candidate. Mr.Meldeshov reported that due to the time difference, the polling stations in the four western regions - West Kazakhstan, Atyrau, Aktobe and Mangystau - closed the last. Voting at the polling stations in foreign countries has not yet finished.
