Special Envoy of Kazakh President meets with Latvian officials in Riga
In Riga senator Adyrbekov promoted Kazakhstan's bid to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2017-2018 and discussed current state and prospects of inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries. He met with Latvian Foreign Affairs Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs, Secretary of the Latvian Parliament Andrey Klementyev, Secretary of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima (Latvian Parliament) Sergey Potalkin and other officials. During the meeting with Edgars Rinkēvičs, Kazakhstani MP handed Nursultan Nazarbayev's message addressed to Latvian President Andris Bērziņš with the request to support Kazakhstan's bid to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2017-2018. Senator Adyrbekov also informed the Latvian side of Kazakhstan's contribution to consolidation of regional and international stability and security, especially in the sphere of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. He also congratulated Minister Rinkēvičs on successful start of Latvian Presidency of the Council of the EU and expressed confidence that Riga will make every possible effort to expand and deepen constructive partnership between Astana and the EU. Ikram Adyrbekov also participated in the roundtable and presentation of Nursultan Nazarbayev ‘s book "G-Global. World of the 21st century" in the Latvian language. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Latvia B. Mukhamedzhanov also took part in all abovementioned events.
