Due to the scarcity of gas, oil and coal, the development of renewable energy sources becomes the priority. Your company holds a leading position. How do you think is there a future for solar energy in Kazakhstan?

- Undoubtedly, solar energy has a great future in Kazakhstan. First of all, you have a very good geographical position, many sunny days. Secondly, you have a lot of space and opportunity to develop renewable energy sources. Thirdly, not all of the population of your country has access to power line. Thus, solar power is one of cost-effective ways to ensure that all regions of the country have access to electricity. At the same time, the development of solar energy in such a sunny country will preserve environment for the future generations.

Do you see the prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the company Total in the development of solar power?

- Total company is interested in establishing cooperation with Kazakhstan. I think there are a lot of opportunities for it. You have an access to very good silicon first, and maybe there are opportunities to develop the silicon purification industry in your country. At the same time we have high-tech industry in solar energy with organic photovoltaic energy, which could be of interest for your research institutes.
