"Six screening programs have been introduced in Kazakhstan. Two programs have been working since 2008 - breast cancer and cervical cancer. Certain results have been achieved in this sphere over this period. Presently, about 85% of the cases of breast cancer is diagnosed at the early stage, and 93.5% of cervical cancer is also diagnosed at the early stage," he told at the CCS media briefing.

According to him, a program for early detection of colon cancer was introduced in 2011. According to the WHO, colon cancer will become a leader in terms of morbidity by 2030. Therefore, the decision on introduction of such a screening was made.

"Since 2012, another three programs have been introduced in a pilot mode - early detection of liver cancer, esophageal cancer, stomach cancer and prostate cancer. These are the programs that were proved to be critical for launching in Kazakhstan," he added.
