Six plants for Chinese cars production to be launched in Kazakhstan

During the Government’s meeting, Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kanat Sharlapaev, presented a report on the development of the machine-building industry of Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to the minister, the machine-building industry represents one of the most significant sectors within the manufacturing industry, accounting for approximately 20% of the total output. Approximately 4,000 companies are currently operational within the industry, collectively employing more than 120,000 individuals.

“Over the course of 9 months, the industry attracted approximately 124 billion tenge in investments, representing a twofold increase in 2024. The production volume reached over 3 trillion tenge, representing a 3.3% growth compared to the same period in 2023. The physical volume index reached 104.2%,” Kanat Sharlapaev noted.

The largest sectors within the field of machine building are automotive (39%), railway (13%) and electrical engineering (9%).

The minister indicated the current objective of the ministry is to up the production of automobiles through small-node assembly. Based on the outcomes of the first 9 months of the current year, the country has produced in excess of 82,000 passenger vehicles.

Furthermore, a construction of a plant for the production of CHANGAN, HAVAL and CHERY vehicles is nearing completion, with an anticipated production capacity of 90,000 units based on a small-node assembly model.

In addition, a construction of a plant for the production of KIA cars is underway. The total investment amount is $200 million. A project for the production of Geely, Exeed, and KAIYI passenger cars has been launched with an investment of $150 million.

Kanat Sharlapaev also announced the launch of serial production of multimedia systems including Kazakhstan Mobility Engineering with investment amount of 890 million tenge and car seats, including Vehicles Almaty with investment amount of 3 billion tenge in Almaty this year.

Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan would supply domestically produced vehicles to Afghanistan.
