Shymkent mourns militaries killed in MI-8 copter crash
"I cannot find words which could express our grief. We will never forget these young people who fully fulfilled the task on state border protection", Head of Ontustik Regional Command of the Frontier Service of the National Security Committee Abdrazak Ilyassov said.
As earlier reported, MI-8 helicopter with 13 people on board crashed in Ugamsk Gorge on September 8 while searching for six gunmen, who intended to cross the border illegally. Ten militaries died, three were rescued. "Now their condition is satisfactory", Ilyassov said.
Funeral of the ten officers will take place tomorrow September 10. A ceremony of morning will also be held at Saryagash frontier detachment. "The command decided to give governmental awards to all dead militaries", he added.
