Sharp may post bigger-than-expected net loss of 400 bil. yen

OSAKA. October 25. KAZINFORM Struggling electronics maker Sharp Corp. may drastically revise downward its group net loss projection for the April-September period to around 400 billion yen from earlier projected 210 billion yen, sources familiar with the matter said Thursday.

The hefty net loss is likely to stem from a reduction in its deferred tax assets and valuation losses of liquid crystal display panel and other inventories, the sources said, Kyodo reports.
The Osaka-based company, which plans to announce its medium-term earnings on Nov. 1, will also be forced to revise downward its net loss projection for the full year to March from the current 250 billion yen, the sources said.
