Share of Astana in Kazakhstan's GDP increased 6 times over 16 years - Tasmagambetov

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The share of Astana in Kazakhstan's GDP has increased six times over the last 16 years, and the volume of investments in the city's economy grew 28 times, Mayor of Astana Imangali Tasmagambetov has said at the V Astana Invest 2014 Forum.

"For 16 years, the population of the city increased almost three times, the gross regional product increased more than fourfold, the share of Astana in the country's GDP increased 6 times from 1.5% to about 10%, while investments increased 28 times," Tasmagambetov said.

According to him, 4 trillion 780 billion tenge has been invested in the economy of Astana since 1998, according to the website of the Prime Minister.

Tasmagambetov also said that it was planned to sign 11 MoUs with investors totaling approximately 500 million U.S. dollars at the forum in Astana.
