Senators backed deputies' Address to President on nationwide referendum

ASTANA. January 6. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ The Upper Chamber of the Kazakh Parliament has discussed today the deputies' initiative to hold a national referendum on introduction of amendments to the Constitution which will allow extending the First Kazakh President's powers at the national referendum.

After the discussion the Senate took a decision to back the initiative announced on December 29, 2010 at the plenary session of the Majilis and to approve the deputies' Address.
The senators discussed also and approved the bill On amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
