Senator Adil Ahmetov praises potential of int'l organizations to ensure mutual understanding and consent

ASTANA. August 23. KAZINFORM - Today at the Palace of Independence has opened the international forum on the occasion of the inauguration of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures in the years 2013-2022, which was initiated by Kazakhstan, says the press service of the Kazakh Senate.

As you know, the 67th session of the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution entitled "Promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, understanding and cooperation for peace."

The organizers of the international forum is the National Commission for UNESCO of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.

The forum has held an interactive panel discussion on the following topics: "To promote and strengthen intercultural dialogue and understanding at the international, regional and national levels", "Problems of multiculturalism in modern societies and the major challenges of globalization", "The role of inter-religious harmony in the convergence of cultures and peoples". In the discussions participated the deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the personal representative of the OSCE on Combating Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims Adil Akhmetov.

The senator suggested for the Rapprochement of Cultures, and preservation of national identity, and intercultural dialogue.
