Senate Speaker receives ambassadors of Norway, Switzerland

The parties noted the dynamic development of Kazakh-Norwegian relations and common approaches to the solution of many regional and international problems.

The Senate Speaker informed the diplomat of the Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum "The OSCE Eurasian Dimension" planned for May in Almaty and invited the Norwegian parliamentarians to take part in it.

Mr. Halvorsen emphasized the importance of further activation of bilateral relations between the two states. He also expressed confidence in successful chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the OSCE, which will allow to bring the image of this international organization to a qualitatively new level.

The same day K. Tokayev also received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Kazakhstan Stephan Nellen. The sides noted successful development of Kazakh-Swiss cooperation and interparliamentary contacts.

Mr. Tokayev thanked the Swiss side for the support of Kazakhstan's candidature to the post of the OSCE chairman. He told about the tasks and objectives of the Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum on the Eurasian Dimension of the OSCE and expressed hope for active participation of Swiss parliamentarians in the event.
