Senate Speaker K. Tokayev met with Chairman of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada V. Lytvyn
During the meeting K. Tokayev expressed satisfaction with the two countries' positions regarding the most urgent issues of the modern international relations. According to the Senate Speaker, Kazakhstan and Ukraine have established constructive cooperation within the inter-parliamentary organization. "Development of inter-parliamentary ties and exchange of experience in law-making activity are of paramount importance both for Astana and Kiev", K. Tokaeyev highlighted.
The inter-parliamentary cooperation of Kazakhstan and Ukraine will promote strengthening political dialogue and economic interaction in different spheres, he noted.
Within the frame of inter-parliamentary contacts Kazakh parliamentarians will continue preparing for the OSCE chairmanship in 2010, he informed.
Participation in inter-parliamentary organizations, like the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the EurAsEC Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, Euro Parliament, PACE, NATO PA is one of the most important directions of the Kazakh Senate's international activity. "We reckon on close interaction with the European parliamentarians including our Ukrainian colleagues in realization of "Road to Europe" state program adopted on President Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiative", the Speaker said.
K. Tokayev also noted that the III Congress of the Leaders of the World and Traditional Religions held in Astana on July 1-2 has become Kazakhstan's great contribution to the global process of inter-cultural dialogue.
The Speaker invited Chairman of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn to visit Kazakhstan.
