Seminar on environmental policy in Kazakhstan started in Astana

The seminar was organized by the Kazakh Ministry of Environmental Protection within the implementation of the EC project on introduction of environmental policy tools in Kazakhstan.

Deputies of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament, representatives of the President's Administration and Government, Vice Minister of Environmental Protection Mazhit Turmagambetov, representatives of corresponding ministries and administrations of the republic, European Commission, UNDP, non-governmental organizations, scientific, expert and business circles take part in the seminar.

According to Project Team Leader Russell Frost the main objectives of the seminar are the discussion of practical implementation of the environmental policy in Kazakhstan as well as development of measures on rising effectiveness of environmental policy instruments in view of the international experience.

Consideration of the topical issues as river basin management, urban air quality management and urban solid waste management will be on the agenda of the seminar as well.
