Seismic swarm hits Cyclades, PM Mitsotakis on site in Santorini

The Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will go to the island today Santorini, currently in a state of crisis while a seismic swarm has been hitting the Cyclades archipelago since Saturday, Agenzia Nova reported.

Meanwhile, a new earthquake of magnitude 4.1 on the Richter scale was recorded this morning around 7 am, 227 km southeast of Athens. According to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the sea area 23 km southwest of Arkesini, near the island of Amorgos.

Also this night, further tremors were recorded in the region of Achaea, Elis and in the area of ​​Aetolia-Acarnania, the Agency reports citing Ana Mpa.

Earlier, it was reported that the ongoing seismic activity in the Aegean Sea may cause volcanic activity, according to Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the Mineral Research and Exploration General Directorate (MTA).
