Second phase of CU to be launched at appointed date: Karim Massimov

ST.PETERSBURG. May 29. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ "The second phase of the Customs Union will be launched at the appointed date - Juky 1, 2010", Kazakh Prime minister Karim Massimov said at the briefing upon the results of the session of the Customs Union supreme body in St. Petersburg.

"This positions is supported by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev", the Head of the Government noted.

As earlier reported, upon the results of the session the Heads of Government of Kazakhstan and Russia singed the Agreement on the application of international treaties within the framework of the formation of the Customs Union.

According to K.Massimov, the Customs Union proved its effectiveness and meets the requirements of development of the national economies of each country.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that Belarus will also join the Agreement as soon as possible. "We believe that an important step in the development of our relations was made", K.Massimov said.
