Schools in Ekibastuz face teacher shortage, find solution

PAVLODAR. KAZINFORM - The city of Ekibastuz faced a critical problem of shortage of teachers of Maths, English, Chemistry and Biology prepared to work in rural areas one week ahead of the new academic year. However, the solution was quickly found and all vacancies were filled by the 1st of September, spokeswoman for the mayor of the city Zhazira Syzdykova says.
53 recent graduates of Kazakhstani pedagogical universities were invited to teach students at urban and rural schools of Ekibastuz this year. According to the regional department of education, 87% out of 1.6 thousand teachers working at local schools have higher education. And only 13% have secondary vocational one. Compared to the previous academic year, number of qualified teachers rose by two per cent. In total, number of teachers with higher and first categories amounted to 56 per cent in the city.
