Schengen consulates in Kazakhstan handle record number of visa applications, EU High Representative Josep Borrell
Schengen consulates in Kazakhstan handled a record 160 thousand visa applications, said High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President Josep Borrell, who is on his official visit to Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

According to Mr. Borrell, an aviation agreement aimed to promote air communication between the EU and Kazakhstan is being finalized.
Schengen consulates in Kazakhstan handled a record 160 thousand visa applications, demonstrating dynamic and positive development of our relations, said Josep Borrell.
He went on to say that the work is ongoing to carry out the European team’s initiative on digital satellite communication worth 20 million euros, adding that a separate policy and regulatory framework for safe satellite communication will be required.

Kazakhstan became the first country in the region to sign a memorandum of mutual understanding on key raw materials with the EU, on which we need to focus in the future. Raw materials are the way forward for civilization. Diversified and sustainable supply chains need to be mutually beneficial, said Borrell.
He pointed out that the EU welcomes Kazakhstan’s request to become a member of the recently launched Minerals Security Partnership Forum
In conclusion, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy stated the EU’s commitment to further greater relations with Kazakhstan.
