Saryarka gas pipeline likely to be connected to Russian gas pipeline system
The Saryarka gas pipeline is likely to be connected to a Russian gas pipeline, the Kazakh energy ministry said, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
A feasibility study for the construction of stages 2 and 3 of the Saryarka main gas pipeline was developed in 2022. Taking into account that gas comes into the Saryarka main gas pipeline from the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline, which was 106% overloaded in the winter of 2022-23, the project’s realization is possible after the completion of the construction of the second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent main gas pipeline, said the ministry while responding to Kazinform News Agency correspondent’s request.
It was added that a feasibility study for the construction of the second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline is to be developed in the second quarter of next year. The project is set to be completed in 2026.
The ministry said that QazaqGaz started corporate procedures to adjust the feasibility study for the construction of phase 4 of the Saryarka main gas pipeline. As part of the adjustment, it is envisaged to build two compressor stations to increase the gas pipeline’s capacity from 606 thousand to 801 thousand cubic meters per hour.
As an alternative, it is envisaged to connect the Saryarka main gas pipeline to a Russian gas pipeline. Gazprom develops a preliminary feasibility study of the project for gasification of the northern and eastern regions of the country, said the Kazakh energy ministry in its response.
