Safety of medical workers - top priority, President says
Addressing a ceremony honoring healthcare workers in Akorda, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about measures to protect medical workers, Qazinform News Agency reports.
According to the Head of State, more than 280,000 specialists currently work in Kazakhstan's healthcare system.
"Raising the status of medical workers and strengthening their professional standing remains a priority. Strict oversight of doctors' safety is a matter of special attention. I addressed this issue at a meeting held last year ahead of their professional holiday," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted.
The President recalled that earlier this year he signed a law introducing criminal liability for individuals who use violence against medical workers.

"This decision fully complies with the principle of 'Law and Order,' which is being firmly established in our society," he emphasized.
Earlier, Qazinform reported that Tokayev congratulated healthcare workers on their professional holiday.
