"I wish successful presidency to Kazakhstan. This is quite a serious issue requiring huge efforts. We are ready to support Kazakhstan in every way in order to implement joint initiatives, to solve most complicated issues together. We will take part in several regional forums regarding security issues. Crime, drug-business and other challenges like the problems of Afghanistan and Pakistan we fought last year, remain still. We have a friendly dialogue on these issues", the Russian Leader noted.
Issues of economic cooperation were discussed as well.
"Last year we did huge work despite the difficulties. Commodity turnover between our countries lowered a little. In 2008 it was around USD 20 bln, in 2009 this figure reduced by 30%. However, I think we can overtake arrears", Medvedev added.
According to him, there must be defined the major ways of bilateral cooperation in economic and humanitarian spheres. "We should activate several economic processes in order to maintain our business", he said.
In turn, N. Nazarbayev expressed gratitude to D. Medvedev for the invitation to visit Moscow and noted Kazakhstan was hopeful for 2010.
"This year we will celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory. Thank you for the invitation to mark the 9th of May here in Moscow. We must demonstrate that there must be no reconsideration of the results of that war at which our fathers and grandfathers died for our independence, for our people", N. Nazarbayev stressed.
Speaking on the upcoming top-level meeting of the EurAsEC N. Nazarbayev said the Kazakh side was ready to consider that propositions on the dates of the sitting. "In September prior to adoption of the Customs Code of the Customs Union we will host our regional forum in Ust Kamenogorsk", he said.
