Russian biathlete Roman Petushkov wins gold at Sochi Paralympics

SOCHI. KAZINFORM Russian biathlete Roman Petushkov on Saturday won gold in men's 7.5-kilometer sitting race at the XI Paralympic Winter Games Russia hosts in its southern resort of Sochi.
The medal was Russia's first gold at the Sochi Paralympics. The Russian national Paralympic team also has one silver, ITAR-TASS reports. Ukraine's Maksym Yarovyi was in second place taking silver, and Japan's Kozo Kubo took third place securing bronze. Petushkov was born on February 18, 1978 in Dmitrov, the Moscow Region. He is the silver and bronze medalist of the 2010 Paralympic Games in Vancouver in cross-country skiing and biathlon respectively, as well as eight-time world champion.
