Russia to finance army, navy in full despite crisis – president

SOCHI. July 14. KAZINFORM President Dmitry Medvedev said the government would give a great deal of attention to the development of the Armed Forces despite the crisis; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
"It is very important that a lot of attention has been given lately to the development of the Armed Forces despite the crisis that ahs created serious problems for our state and the economy," Medvedev said at a meeting with Navy men in Sochi on Monday.
"But we have not curtailed the financing of the army and the navy, not even by one parameter," he added.
The president dwelt specifically on the construction of hosing for the military. He said the Defence Ministry would build two times more housing for the military bin 2009 than was initially planned.
"Despite the financial crisis, this task remains a priority," he said; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
