He reminded of his recent meeting with US President Barack Obama, describing the summit as "long expected, but not an easy one". "Nonetheless, we did our best to make headway on the most difficult problems," Medvedev declared. "There is one thing I am certain of: as a minimum, the conversation is going on, there is no wish to fence oneself off or suggest one's own agenda not linked to proposals made by other partners in the international community," Medvedev said.

"The interaction with the United States will continue on the Afghan track as well. We are also negotiating support to counter-terrorist operations and military transit to Afghanistan. This is also an important direction especially because a considerable number of officers and generals present here know not by hearsay how many problems are concentrated in the Afghan-Pakistani direction and what number of bandits and drug traffickers infiltrate to Russia from there," the Russian president said, Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
