Russia's Sollers interested in development of car assembly productions in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. March 26. KAZINFORM Working groups of the Kazakh and Russian Governments headed by first Vice Prime Ministers of the countries Umirzak Shukeyev and Igor Shuvalov held negotiations in Moscow March 24.

The parties discussed the prospects of further development of bilateral trade-economic relations within he Customs Union including development of car assembly productions in Kazakhstan taking into account the prospects of their sale on the markets of the CU member countries, a press release of the Kazakh Government reads.

Well-known Russian Company Sollers providing a full scope of automobile services from manufacturing up to sales and maintenance services expressed interest in implementation of this project.

The first stage of the project provides for launch of assembly of UAZ cars in Astana. Further expansion of the project will let raising production capacity up to 50 thousand cars per year. The total sum of investments is estimated in USD 200 mln.

Neighbor countries including Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia etc are considered as promising markets for sale of the cars.
