Afghanistan started to experience fuel shortages several months ago after Iran stropped thousands of Afghan tanker trucks from crossing its border. Iran claimed that oil product shipments across its territory were meant for NATO troops in Afghanistan, although the Afghan authorities rejected the allegations.

The fuel blockade has pushed up gasoline and diesel fuel prices by 30% in Afghanistan in the past two months.

Rosneft signed an agreement on oil product supply with Afghanistan's Dawi Oil, the Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry said. The Moscow Industrial Bank will finance the deal, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
