Russia introduces restrictions on pork imports from Japan

MOSCOW. May 27. KAZINFORM Russia's food safety regulator Rosselkhoznadzor is restricting imports from Japan of pork and pork products that have not undergone special heat treatment, the regulator said Tuesday, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.

"In connection with the discovery of H1N1 influenza virus human cases in Japan, imports to Russia from the Japanese prefectures of Osaka, Hyogo and Shiga of pigs, pork and processed products that have not undergone thermal treatment are banned until further notice," the regulator said. The regulator said the minimum temperature required for the treatment of pork products should be 80 degrees Celsius, with the process lasting no less than 30 minutes, Kazinform cites RIA Nobosti.
