Robot Restaurant, futuristic cabaret with robots, opens in Tokyo

TOKYO. September 14. KAZINFORM Paris may have the Moulin Rouge, attracting tourists from all over the world with its traditional French cancan and beautiful dancers, but Tokyo now has its own distinctively futuristic cabaret experience -- the Robot Restaurant, featuring giant robots operated by girls in skimpy outfits amid a dazzling profusion of lights.

"Foreign customers who come here say the same thing: crazy," Dai Tokutake, the manager of Robot Restaurant, said with a grin before the start of the day's first show earlier this week,  Kyodo reports.

Despite its name, the club that opened in July in the Kabukicho night entertainment district is not a restaurant but an adult-oriented establishment where customers pay 4,000 yen to see an hour-long show. A small boxed dinner and green tea in a plastic bottle are served, but the meal is much less spectacular than what takes place on the floor.
