Road mishap claims 15 lives in southern India

NEW DELHI. May 15. KAZINFORM. At least 15 people were killed and three sustained injuries when the van in which they were travelling collided head-on with a bus near the Madurai airport in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu Friday, said police; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
"Both the vehicles were on high speed when the mishap took place, killing 15 people on the spot. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital. All the victims have been identified as local laborers," he said, on condition of anonymity.
Senior police officials have rushed to the spot after locals staged a small road protest demanding the presence of traffic policemen to instill fears among the drivers; Kazinform cites Xinhua.
