Road Map implementation must start without delays this year: Kazakh PM Massimov

ANA. January 12. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ At the end of the last year Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov charged the Government to prepare for realization of industrial projects. "134 projects with the total amount of investments up to USD 1 mln is planned to be accomplished in 2010, including 78 projects - by July 1. The rest 56 projects will be started up by the end of the year", the Prime Minister said at the session of the Government on December 29, 2009.

Yesterday at the telephone conference of the Government the Kazakh Premier reminded that all projects must be put into operation at a specified time. As Minister of Industry and Trade Asset Issekeshev reported, over KZT 800 bln was invested in the projects. Over 16,500 people work at the construction sites. About 17,000 jobs will be created as a result of the projects' launching.

During the last year's telephone conference of the Government the national companies were charged to approve procurement plans for 2010. As it was stated at the session, the plans are already available on the web sites of the companies.

Nine national companies including KEGOC, "KazMunaiGaz", "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy", "Kazpochta", "Air-Astana", "Kazakhtelecom", "Samruk-Energo", "Kamkor Management", "Kazatomprom" possess 98 per cent out of the total volume of procurements.

KZT 537.8 bln will be spent for the procurements in the first quarter of the year, including KZT 175 bln - for procurements from domestic producers and goods suppliers.

The Head of the Government urged to pay special attention to the situation at the Kazakhstan's borders due to the establishment of the Customs Union on January 1, 2010.

The Governor of Zhambyl region informed that the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border has poor technical equipment, the customs and frontier services are short-staffed. In particular, there are only 12 customs officers instead of 100 required. The check points are poorly equipped.

The Governor of West Kazakhstan region was charged to control over the prices for foods and fuel and lubricants, as long as they might increase due to opening of the borders.

Prime Minister Massimov commissioned the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, "KazMunaiGaz" JSC together with the regional Governors to submit the plan of fuel supplies for conduction of sowing campaign.

The issues of realization of the Road Map and business support will be discussed at the next telephone conference that will be held in a fortnight, the Premier informed. He stressed that in 2010 the Road Map implementation could be started without delays since all procedures must be already passed.

Summing up the results of the session, Karim Massimov noted that the work on implementation of plans for the year depends on the pace set today, in January.
