Road accident ends 20-year-old hockey player's career

ASTANA. July 22. KAZINFORM Defenceman of HC Barys youth team Artyom Grachev has announced his retirement on Monday at age 20, Kazinform has learnt from Vesti.kz.
The 20-year-old didn't go into details about why doctors recommended him to quit playing hockey. But, it is believed that the road accident in which Grachev was injured is to blame.
The car crash happened in August 2012 in Almaty region, where a bus, a truck and Audi car collided on the motorway. The hockey player was hospitalized and put into intensive care unit (neurosurgery unit).
It is worth mentioning that Grachev is not leaving the world of hockey for good. He will work as a manager for Nomad hockey team under HC Barys Astana.
