RK Ambassador to Saudi Arabia met IDB President

JEDDAH. February 14. KAZINFORM Yesterday Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Saudi Arabia Kairat Lama Sharif met with President of the Islamic Development Bank Mohamed Ali in Jeddah, Kazinform reports.

Issues regarding the oncoming visit of the Head of the IDB to Kazakhstan and his participation in the second Astana Economic Forum on ?Economic security of Eurasia in the system of global risks? scheduled for March. The Bank plans to organize a workshop on implementation of the Islamic Banking in Kazakhstan within this event, the press service of the Kazakh MFA informs.
The parties positively estimated the prospects of development of economic cooperation of Kazakhstan with the Islamic countries and organizations and noted our forthcoming chairmanship in the Organization of Islamic Conference in 2011. Alongside the parties agreed that the potential of cooperation of Kazakhstan with the Islamic world has not been fully realized yet.
According to the President of the IDB Kazakhstan?s chairmanship in the OIC is a good chance for adoption of measures on improvement of the current situation. M. Ali considers his visit to Kazakhstan as an opportunity for opening new stage of active cooperation key aspect of which is assistance to development of infrastructure potential of Kazakhstan and Central Asia in whole. As is known, the Directors Board of the IDB approved financing reconstruction of ?South Kazakhstan border-Taraz? road of ?West Europe-West China? International transit corridor to the amount of USD 186 mln. M. Ali highlighted that the Bank intends to consider the projects on development of transit, water and other types of infrastructure and the projects on food security ensuring.
