"Regimes similar to that of Saakashvili come and go away, but feelings between nations remain," he said. "I am sure in some time our relations will be restored on a new basis with taking into consideration the formed realities and the tragic pages the relations went through in recent time," he said.

Russia has no diplomatic relations with Georgia now. It is a result of the aggression committed by Saakashvili's regime last year, Medvedev noted.

"At the same time, we have a long-time and very warm attitude, historically a very warm attitude, to Georgian people with whom we, as it is said, have gone through fire, water and copper trumpets," he said. "And we would like to have such relations in the highest sense of the word," the president noted, according to Itar Tass.
