Answering the veterans' address containing suggestions for the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Second World War, the head of the Russian state pointed out "Russia will preside over the Commonwealth of Independent States next year."

"We will do our utmost to take into account your wishes," the president said. "Not one veteran should be left without attention and care. Much must be done for patriotic upbringing of young people and for opposing the attempts to rewrite history."

Medvedev pointed out that matters of celebration of the Ve-Day would be discussed at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS in Chisinau on October 9, 2009. "Most of your proposals, including that to proclaim 2010 Year of Veterans of the Second World War, are considered now. Russia suggests that it be held under the motto 'We have won the Victory together'," the president noted; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass. See www.itar-tass.com for full version.
