Resolution on holding 2010 OSCE Summit adopted at OSCE PA's 19th Annual Session

ASTANA. July 12. KAZINFORM The 19th Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly ended with the adoption of the Oslo Declaration on holding the OSCE Summit in 2010; the Senate's press service told Kazinform.

The majority of the participants backed the proposal of Kazakhstan's Senator Kuanysh Sultanov regarding the amendments to the resolution of convocation of the OSCE Summit initiated by the Kazakh Parliament.

"The Parliamentary Assembly calls on the organization's member states to hold the 2010 OSCE Summit, which should become a significant contribution to the enhancement of security and cooperation in Europe and Eurasia on all OSCE dimensions and enable the organization to play a role in the field of European and Eurasian security in the twenty-first century", the Resolution, as amended, reads.

Taking into account the recommendations of the May Trans-Asian Parliamentary Forum "The OSCE Eurasian Dimension" the Assembly adopted a Resolution covering a wide range of issues, from the situation in Kyrgyzstan to the Parliamentary Assembly's involvement in the OSCE Corfu Process, the peace process in the Middle East, nuclear security, cybercrime, the situation in the Arctic, investigative journalism, and the death penalty.
