Rescuers to airlift bodies of Kazakh children killed in mudslide in Kyrgyzstan

Rescuers arrived in Osh, Kyrgyzstan, to airlift bodies of Kazakh children killed in mudslide and to deliver humanitarian aid, Kazinform News Agency learnt form the Kazakh Emergencies Ministry.

The plane of the Kazakh Defense Ministry landed in Osh to evacuate Kazakhstanis and airlift the bodies of children who died as a result of mudflow in Nookat district of Osh region. Besides, Kazakhstan sent 2,700 tons of humanitarian assistance to those affected by mudslides, it said in a statement.

Earlier head of the emergencies department of Zhambyl region Arman Tokanov left for Nookat district to coordinate search and rescue operations. The Kazakh Emergencies Ministry set up an emergency operations center to keep in touch with the Kyrgyz Emergencies Ministry and the Kazakh Embassy.

Phycologists provide help and support for families who have lost their children.

As earlier reported, eight people, including four Kazakh children, were swept away by mudflows on June 28 in Nookat district, Osh region.

Mudslides damaged bridges, electric poles, and roads. 1,400 people were trapped in Abshyr-Ata and Kezart recreation areas.
