Rescuers save Russian fishermen stranded on ice floe

MOSCOW. March 13. KAZINFORM. A group of 15 fishermen who were adrift on an ice floe in Russia's Far East were rescued on Saturday by the emergency services, rescuers say; Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
The "ice-fishermen" had ignored warnings that ice was breaking up in the Sakhalin Region.
Adverse weather conditions meant that rescue workers were unable to use a helicopter in the operation, which involved 28 people.
Ice-fishing, which involves drilling a hole in the ice, is extremely popular in Russia; Kazinform cites RIA Novosti.
