Report on children's vulnerabilities to risky behaviour and sexual exploitation presented in Astana

The event presented a report on the assessment of children's vulnerabilities to risky behavior, sexual exploitation and trafficking in Kazakhstan conducted in 2011 in Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Kokshetau, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Atyrau and Karaganda cities, the press service of the UNICEF Kazakhstan reports.

The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Kazakhstan with the support of USAID and the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kazakhstan conducted the research and presented its findings.

The report identifies key factors that make children fall prey to exploiters, reveals experiences of child victims of human trafficking and their access to the child protection system and rehabilitation services, and proposes recommendations on enhancement of child rights protection mechanism in the discussed area.

During the roundtable which was attended by Parliament members, representatives of state agencies, international and civil society organizations, participants shared their ideas on settling the problems identified in the study.
