Renewable energy's share to hit 50 percent by 2050 in Kazakhstan
This target is a part of the Concept-2050 which envisages transition to "green" economy.
In 2030 the level of renewable and alternative sources is expected to hit 30 percent.
"If domestic natural gas prices are high, 11 percent of our energy basket will fall to wind and solar sources by 2030, 8 percent - to nuclear sources, 10 percent - hydro sources, 21 percent - gas and 49 percent - coal. By 2050, the share of wind and solar sources will increase to 39 percent, the share of nuclear and hydro power stations will hit 14 percent, gas stations - 16 percent and the remaining 31 percent will fall to coal stations, upgraded or based on clean technologies," Kapparov said.
If natural gas prices reduce, the share of gas-fired power plants will reach 26 percent in 2030 and 32 percent in 2050, the minister said.
Moreover, according to Kapparov, energy efficiency measures will allow to reduce electricity production by 13 percent by 2030, Kazinform refers to trend.az.
According to the Presidential order, the concept on Kazakhstan transition's to "green economy" is being implemented since June 1.
