Religions should pass from dialog to practical deeds - sitting in Astana

KAZINFORM. /Narymbek Ismagulov/ "Representatives of world and traditional religions should pass from the dialog to practical deeds", Dr. Shanta Premawardhana, the Director of the Program on Inter-religious Dialogue and Cooperation of the World Council of Churches has said today at the 8th sitting of the Secretariat of the Congress of religious leaders in Astana.
"We've gathered in Astana for the third time to discuss main problems of modern development. Our discussions are resulted in the appeals to the world community. However, it is not enough for today. On the basis of these appeals we should begin work in our organizations - churches, monasteries, synagogues", he noted.
Dr. Shanta Premawardhana also stressed the necessity of consolidation of efforts of the world and traditional religions' leaders in combating negative consequences of the global crisis that mostly affected the under-privileged people. Besides, he suggested including the problems of environmental protection and ecology into the agenda of the forthcoming III Congress.
