Record grain harvest in Karaganda region
"In the Karaganda region harvesting is over. Gross grain harvest amounted to 857 thousand tons, which is 2 times higher than in 2012. This year the region has achieved the record for grain yield in the last 30 years - 13 quintals per hectare", the statement reads.
Gross yield of potatoes was 259 thousand tons, of vegetables - 63 thousand tons, with an increase compared to the last year by 4 and 3 thousand tons respectively.
"This year the crops have been on the area of 762 thousand hectares. As part of the diversification of crop sector, compared to the previous year, sown area of oil-bearing crops grew by 90%, in the structure of grain there is increase of the proportion of forage crops: barley - 23 thousand hectares, and oats by 9 hectares ", says the report.
In addition, there has been growth in the area for sown perennial and annual grasses.
According to the press service of regional akim in the next three years the activities continue to expand the area under forage crops to 300 thousand hectares.
It is emphasized that the regionis the first in the country to eliminate subsidies on wheat production. "The released funds were used for forage crops: barley and oats - to KZT 2000 per 1 hectare. Also there has been a rise in subsidies for planting one hectare of annual and perennial grasses, reminds the press-service of the oblast akim.
The practice of government support through redistribution of crop subsidies will continue taking into account the priority areas for crops in the region.
In order to introduce advanced production technology of crops in irrigated areas from the next yearit is scheduled to multiply subsidies for the use of drip irrigation to KZT 150 thousand per 1 hectare in the first year of implementation.
