Rating of CIS universities to be compiled

"Belarusians will also be able to take part in this large-scale research and rate national universities by completing a questionnaire on a special Internet portal," the agency said.

The major goal of the project is to offer an alternative to international ratings that fail to take into consideration specific features of higher learning in the CIS.

According to analysts of Expert RA Rating Agency, the existing ratings are not able to provide an adequate evaluation of the quality of education and attainments of graduates on local labor markets. For example, ARWU and THE WUR publish the ratings of two Russian universities; other CIS universities are not ranked there.

The top 500 universities of QS WUR features one Belarusian university, two universities of Kazakhstan, six universities of Russia and no universities from the other CIS member states. According to BelTA .

The agency assured that the new rating will take into consideration specific features of higher learning in the Commonwealth. The research will focus on efforts to improve the quality of education and on the standing of graduates on the labor market of their country. The experts will also analyze the reputation of the rated universities in their country and other CIS member states.
