Rakhat Aliyev arrested in connection with murder of two bankers: Prosecutor General's Office

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - According to the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, ex-security chief of Kazakhstan Rakhat Aliyev was arrested by Vienna police on June 5.
The Vienna prosecutor's office confirmed that investigation files on kidnapping and slaughter of two top managers of Nurbank Zh. Timraliyev and A. Khasenov had led to Aliyev's arrest. Aliyev turned himself into the police voluntarily and wanted to cooperate.
Law-enforcement authorities in Austria are currently examining the files. Recall that Vienna Court refused to extradite Aliyev to Kazakhstan three years ago in June 2011.
The Kazakh Prosecutor General's Office is ready to provide any kind of assistance to their Austrian colleagues, if requested.
