Radiation oncology centers to be opened in 5 cities of Kazakhstan
"Presently, many Kazakhstanis go abroad to receive treatment which is not available in Kazakhstan. In order to change this situation, 5 highly-qualified centers of radiation oncology will be opened in Aktobe, Astana, Karaganda, Almaty and Semey on the basis of medical universities," D.Baipeisov said.
According to the Deputy Head of the Research Institute, the centers of radiation oncology will be equipped with radiotherapy equipment. Every center will rendered services to residents of 2-3 regions, thereby; people will receive care in all regions of the country.
Besides, a center of nuclear medicine will be built on the basis of the oncology center in Semey. It will be opened at the end of 2013. Another nuclear medicine center will be established on the basis of the oncology institute of Almaty in 2014. Such center has already been established in the Republican Diagnostics Center in Astana.
It is worth noting that the Program provided for development of proton therapy and other innovative methods of treatment applied in many developed countries.
"All these methods and technologies are aimed to reduce the mortality rate and increase the life expectancy of our oncology patients," D.Baipeisov resumed.
