MOSCOW. JULY 21. KAZINFORM A hydropower plant in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Kabardino-Balkaria attacked by militants earlier on Wednesday should be repaired as soon as possible, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said. Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
Putin told Deputy Premier Igor Sechin, responsible for the energy sector, to take all the necessary measures to fully restore the Baksan plant.
The premier's spokesman also said that Putin had ordered Sechin to take emergency measures to make sure energy supplies were not disrupted after the blasts.
Two security guards were killed when suspected militants burst into the plant and set off a series of explosions.
Sechin will hold a meeting with high-ranking officials from the Energy Ministry and RusHydro, the company managing the hydropower plant, later on Wednesday. Kazinform cites RIA Novosti. See www.en.rian.ru
