PSG and Morocco defender Hakimi faces court over alleged rape
Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan national team captain, will stand trial over an allegation of rape, the Versailles Court of Appeal confirmed on Friday, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing Anadolu Agency.
Moroccan captain Hakimi, also a right-back for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), is expected to appear before a criminal court in Hauts-de-Seine over allegations of raping a woman in February 2023.
Hakimi, who is currently competing in the 2026 World Cup in North America, has repeatedly denied the allegations, calling them false.
PSG defender posted on the X platform that he chose to remain silent for years, “trusting the justice system would allow the right decisions to be made”, after the court’s decision.
“I’ve been waiting for this trial since day one. And now I’m looking forward to it. Finally, I will be able to speak,” Achraf Hakimi shared in his post on X.
La justice m’a regardé dans les yeux et m’a dit : « Si vous n’étiez pas connu, il n’y aurait jamais eu d’affaire. »
