«Proton-M» crash area soil detoxification completed - Kazkosmos

BAIKONUR. July 16. KAZINFORM — Work on detoxification of soil in the area of "Proton-M" launch vehicle (LV) crash as well as collection and removal of the carrier's fragments are going on, the press service of Kazkosmos reports.
By the end of last week 9,680 square meters, accounting to 80% of the total affected area, were detoxificated. Recovery efforts are to be fully completed today, July 16, 2013.
In 10 days after recovery procedures there will be taken additional soil samples for control determination of residual propellant.
In addition, experts of "Research Center"Gharysh-Ecology ", Kazakhstan's Republican State Enterprise, in cooperation with "Yuzhnyi", Russian Space Centre, are continuing to monitor environment condition in the surrounding communities.
