Prospects of investment projects realization and Kyrgyzstan's entry into the CU discussed in Bishkek

ALMATY. November 26. KAZINFORM - A team of EDB specialists including the Manager of EurAsEC Anti-Crisis Fund (ACF) at the end of the last week visited Bishkek where they had talks with the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Jantoro Satybaldiyev, ministers of finance, energy, transport and communications, the press service of the EDB reports.

The visit included discussions of the ACF in Kyrgyzstan as well as the preparation of investment projects and general issues of the economic situation in the country and its entry into the Customs Union (CU).

There parties talked over the readiness of the two ACF investment projects which will be considered by the Board of the Fund on December 10 the current year. This refers to rehabilitation of the Bishkek-Osh motor road amounted to USD 60 million and supply of agricultural machinery - leasing in the amount of USD 20 million. Both projects are in a high state of readiness. If approved by the Council the above mentioned projects will be launched in the first half of 2014.

The round table also discussed the possibility of cooperation with the ACF in energy, in particular, there were considered the plans on modernization of the country's largest Toktogul hydro-electric power station, and prospects of the 2nd phase of "Kambarata-2" hydroplant construction. Both facilities are very important for strengthening energy security of the country.

In addition to these negotiations round tables were held with the directors of rep offices of the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and the IMF. The event discussed partnership in solving problems of Kyrgyzstan's development and the possibility of joint projects with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. Thus, the road project "Bishkek-Osh" is being implemented in parallel financing from the Asian Development Bank.
