Prospect of Astana is to become the leading city concentrating economic activity of surrounding areas

It is expected that by 2020 the volume of trade between the countries bordering with Kazakhstan will increase by half and will reach $ 1 trillion. And in connection with the growth of the Chinese economy in 2020, the annual volume of trade between China and Europe will amount to 800 billion dollars.

As a result of the implementation of the Kazakh President's plans by 2020 the volume of transit traffic through Kazakhstan should increase by almost a factor of 2 with a further reach up to 50 million tons.

"The competitive advantage of the" New Silk Road" will be based on implementation of the principle of "5S", that stands for speed, service, cost, safety and stability. As a result of their territorial and functional relationship there should be a synergistic effect. This principle should be the main source of competitive advantage of the "New Silk Road" following the example of Dubai or Singapore", said the President.

Meanwhile, the competitive advantages of the territorial development of the city of Astana are in a favorable geographical location, in the historically formed spatial organization of the city as a major transportation hub linking the regions of the country and neighboring countries with the network of roads and railways. The combination of these qualities makes Astana a leader city, concentrating the economic activity in the surrounding areas, and it will be the driving force for the rest of the country.
